35th Teachers' Day Celebration

The culmination of this year's 35th Teacher's Day celebration was the presentation of the Teacher's Day Awards to 44 recipients. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the awards. The ceremony took place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas. Accompanying His Majesty were His Majesty's sons and brothers;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;
- His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen;
- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah;
- And His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr. Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education.

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah dedicated to Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien and teachers who have passed away, as well as Doa Selamat were led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, State Mufti.

The reading of Al-Qur'an Verses was presented by Haji Awang Mohammad Zul-Hafiz bin Awang Tengah, Religious Education Officer.

The Minister of Education in his welcoming address highlighted the Green Education Plan 2025 to 2035 in line with the aspirations of Brunei Darussalam's National Climate Change Policy. Enlivening the ceremony included Teacher's Day song performances.

The Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Education Award was presented to Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Yusoff bin Haji Awang Ismail who received a Certificate of Honour, $20,000 in cash, souvenirs and free medical facilities including all expenses for first-class wards at government hospitals in the country.

The Meritorious Teacher Award was presented to 4 recipients namely Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Daud bin Haji Mahmud; first recipient. Second recipient was Dayang Hajah Norjum binti Haji Yusop. Followed by Dato Paduka Doctor Haji Omar bin Haji Khalid. And Dayang Hajah Mastuyah binti Haji Abdul Ghani. They received a Certificate of Honour, $12,000 in cash, souvenirs and free medical facilities.

Another 9 were awarded the Excellent Teacher Award by receiving a Certificate of Honor, $4,000 in cash, souvenir and given priority to further their studies.

30 recipients received the Special Mention Teachers' Day Appreciation Award by receiving a Certificate of Honour, $1,000 cash and a trophy.
